WFG National Title Grows Agency Resources in Midwest

Samuel and Kelley Shellhaas will provide underwriting counsel and support 

Santa Barbara, CA  June 21, 2013         WFG National Title Insurance Company (“WFG National Title”) has named Samuel Shellhaas, Esq. as Vice President/Midwest Underwriting Counsel and Kelley Shellhaas, Esq. as Assistant Midwest Underwriting Counsel for its Midwest Agency group. WFG National Title is a full service provider of title insurance and real estate settlement services for commercial and residential transactions nationwide.

In their roles with WFG National Title, Samuel and Kelley Shellhaas will provide underwriting support, guidance, and education for the underwriter’s Midwest region title agencies.    Samuel Shellhaas comes to WFG National Title with twenty years of experience, and served most recently with one of the industry’s largest national underwriters as Senior Underwriting Counsel for Ohio.  He was also Underwriting Counsel in Kentucky.  From 2008 to 2011, Shellhaas held various positions with another of the nation’s largest underwriters, including Associate State Underwriting Counsel in Ohio and back-up regional Underwriting Counsel for Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas.   Prior to entering the title industry, he was employed in the Home Office Claims Department of a top 40 property and casualty insurance company.  Previously, he was in private law practice for six years.  He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Toledo.  He is currently the President of the Ohio Land Title Association (“OLTA”), and has also served on OLTA’s Board of Directors as Secretary/Treasurer and President-Elect.  Shellhaas also has specialized expertise in oil, gas and mineral rights, having delivered nearly 30 Continuing Legal and Insurance Education presentations in the field.

Kelley Shellhaas comes to WFG National Title with 11 years of industry experience.  She served most recently as Associate Underwriting Counsel in Ohio for one of the nation’s largest title underwriters, with which she had been for ten years.  She also has 14 years experience in corporate communications, including government relations, with Columbus-based lobbying firms, the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce and a state regulatory board.  Shellhaas received her Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School, and graduated with honors from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.
