Aubrey Joins WFG National Title’s Regional Management Team

Industry Veteran to Manage Agency Relationships in NJ, PA 

Santa Barbara, CA  March 3, 2014   Lisa J. Aubrey has joined WFG National Title Insurance Company (“WFG National Title”) as a senior vice president and state manager for the company’s agency division in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  WFG National Title is a full service provider of title insurance and real estate settlement services for commercial and residential transactions nationwide.

A title insurance industry veteran, Ms. Aubrey has more than 20 years experience in the field, most recently as director of agency training for one of the industry’s largest title underwriters. Prior to that, she gained experience at several New York and New Jersey title companies, holding positions ranging from settlement clerk and post-closing coordinator to vice president in charge of operations.

A graduate of Montclair State University, from which she obtained an undergraduate degree in Communication Studies, Ms. Aubrey completed the Title Insurance Licensing Course at the Professional School of Business in Millburn, NJ.

She is actively involved in the New Jersey Land Title Association, (“NJLTA”), where she has served on the Board of Governors for the past two years.  Ms. Aubrey also serves on the NJLTA Rating Bureau (a voluntary association of title insurers who collect and share financial information to support rates proposed to the New Jersey Department of  Banking and Insurance), on the association’s Website Design Committee, and on its Convention Committee, which she is chairing this year.

WFG National Title Promotes Vandenberg to National Escrow Manager

SVP will oversee escrow policies nationwide

WFG Names Kelley as Orange County Manager

National title underwriter family continues growth in California

Santa Ana, CA   January 6, 2014         WFG Title Company of California (“WFG”) seeks to continue its growth in the California market by naming Bryan Kelley as Senior Vice President, Orange County Manager.  WFG Title Company of California is part of the The Williston Financial Group family of title insurers, which includes WFG Title Insurance Company and WFG National Title Insurance Company, both of which are full service providers of title insurance and real estate settlement services for commercial and residential transactions.

Kelley will primarily oversee the growth of WFG’s presence in Orange County.  He will manage the office’s financial performance as well as its day to day operations.  He comes to WFG from one of the nation’s largest title underwriters, where he oversaw its national title and closing division in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida and Illinois.  Before that, Kelley served as County Manager in Orange County, Northern California and Washington for other national providers.  He has also held positions ranging from title officer to operations manager over the course of his 29 year career in the title insurance industry.

WFG National Title Hires Florida Land Title Association Executive Director

Alan Fields will serve as national agency counsel

 

Tampa, FL  October 2, 2013      The Florida Land Title Association’s Executive Director is changing his corporate address, but he will still be working hand in hand with title agents.

Alan Fields has joined WFG National Title Insurance Company (“WFG National Title”) to serve as its National Agency Counsel. WFG National Title is a full service provider of title insurance and real estate settlement services for commercial and residential transactions nationwide.

In his position with WFG National Title, Fields will be an underwriting and legal resource for the company’s national title agencies. He will also contribute to the WFG National Title national and Florida underwriting teams.

Fields comes to WFG with 27 years of legal experience.  He was most recently the Executive Director of the Florida Land Title Association, having taken that position in 2010.  Previously, he served as Florida State Counsel for one of the industry’s largest national underwriters.  Before that, Fields served as General Counsel and in operational roles for several public and private corporations and in private practice with Dykema Gossett and, before that, Shackleford, Farrior, Stallings & Evans (both in Tampa).

Fields received his J.D. from Florida State University College of Law, where he was Editor in Chief of the school’s Law Review, and his undergraduate degree in Economics from Davidson College.

Santos Joins WFG National Title

To be VP of Operational Enhancement in Washington 

Seattle, WA  October 1, 2013 Mel Santos has joined WFG National Title of Washington (“WFG”), a Seattle-based subsidiary of WFG National Title Insurance Company.  He will serve as Vice President of Operational Enhancement.  WFG is a national, full service provider of title insurance and real estate settlement services for commercial and residential transactions.

In his new role, Santos will develop and execute regional recruiting plans, with his primary responsibilities to include the recruitment of salespeople, escrow officers and support staff for the company’s offices in the greater Seattle area.   He has served in the title industry since 1975.  He most recently owned and operated a franchise retail business for five years, before which he was charged with the start-up and development of a national reverse mortgage lending company.  Previously, he was Vice President of Business Development with East Bay Mortgage. Before that, Santos held various positions with one of the industry’s largest title insurers for many years.

Industry veteran to be SVP of Northwest Operations and Divisional Counsel 

Portland, OR  August 12, 2013               WFG National Title Insurance Company (“WFG National Title”) has added Robert Horvat to serve as Senior Vice President of Northwest Operations and Divisional Counsel. Horvat will primarily support WFG National Title’s Oregon and Washington title operations. In his role, he will offer underwriting, claims and general legal counsel; provide internal and outside training and support all aspects of daily operations.

Horvat comes to WFG National Title with over 27 years of experience in transactional real estate, business and finance, including a tenure as a partner with one of the largest law firms in the nation.  His expertise includes multi-million dollar commercial and residential real estate transactions as well as the formation, purchase, operation, sale, merger, conversion and liquidation of businesses.  Horvat has served as lead counsel for national and regional lenders and borrowers in sophisticated real property and asset secured financing transactions.  He is rated AV (highest legal ability and ethics rating) by Martindale-Hubbell, and has written and lectured extensively on his areas of legal expertise.

WFG National Title Grows Agency Resources in Midwest

Samuel and Kelley Shellhaas will provide underwriting counsel and support 

Santa Barbara, CA  June 21, 2013         WFG National Title Insurance Company (“WFG National Title”) has named Samuel Shellhaas, Esq. as Vice President/Midwest Underwriting Counsel and Kelley Shellhaas, Esq. as Assistant Midwest Underwriting Counsel for its Midwest Agency group. WFG National Title is a full service provider of title insurance and real estate settlement services for commercial and residential transactions nationwide.

In their roles with WFG National Title, Samuel and Kelley Shellhaas will provide underwriting support, guidance, and education for the underwriter’s Midwest region title agencies.    Samuel Shellhaas comes to WFG National Title with twenty years of experience, and served most recently with one of the industry’s largest national underwriters as Senior Underwriting Counsel for Ohio.  He was also Underwriting Counsel in Kentucky.  From 2008 to 2011, Shellhaas held various positions with another of the nation’s largest underwriters, including Associate State Underwriting Counsel in Ohio and back-up regional Underwriting Counsel for Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas.   Prior to entering the title industry, he was employed in the Home Office Claims Department of a top 40 property and casualty insurance company.  Previously, he was in private law practice for six years.  He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Toledo.  He is currently the President of the Ohio Land Title Association (“OLTA”), and has also served on OLTA’s Board of Directors as Secretary/Treasurer and President-Elect.  Shellhaas also has specialized expertise in oil, gas and mineral rights, having delivered nearly 30 Continuing Legal and Insurance Education presentations in the field.

Kelley Shellhaas comes to WFG National Title with 11 years of industry experience.  She served most recently as Associate Underwriting Counsel in Ohio for one of the nation’s largest title underwriters, with which she had been for ten years.  She also has 14 years experience in corporate communications, including government relations, with Columbus-based lobbying firms, the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce and a state regulatory board.  Shellhaas received her Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School, and graduated with honors from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.

Acquires Community Title Services of Nevada

Everett to be SVP, Compliance and Licensing 

Portland, OR  May 15, 2013     WFG National Title Insurance Company (“WFG National Title”) has named Deborah Everett as Senior Vice President, Compliance and Licensing. Everett will be charged with ensuring that WFG National Title maintains full compliance with state mandated licensing and registration necessary to conduct title, settlement and appraisal management business at the state level.  She will also develop comprehensive audit programs to address the new and evolving regulatory requirements at both the federal and state levels. Everett will manage a comprehensive licensing database for all lines of business in the company as well.

Everett comes to WFG National Title with twenty-six years experience in the real estate and lending industries.   She has served as Director of Title Underwriting, Risk and Compliance with Premium Title Insurance Company.  She was also Senior Vice President and Counsel for one of the nation’s largest underwriters; Chief Compliance Officer with another of the nation’s largest underwriters, and Vice President and General Counsel for a regional bank in Texas.  Prior to working in the title insurance industry, Everett was an attorney in private practice focusing on real estate, probate and contracts.

She is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and the Eastern and Northern Federal District Courts of Texas.  Everett is a certified mediator and holds title agent licenses in thirty states.  She has also served on various committees for the Texas Land Title Association.

WFG National Title Expands Compliance Resources

 Fenske to be SVP, Compliance and National Training Officer

 

Portland, OR  April 22, 2013    WFG National Title Insurance Company (“WFG National Title”) has added Lee Ann Fenske to serve as Senior Vice President, Compliance and National Training Officer. WFG National Title is a full service provider of title insurance and real estate settlement services for lender, commercial and residential transactions nationwide.

 

With WFG National Title, Fenske will be responsible for compliance audits as well as employee and WFG agent training. She will be involved with internal and agent communications regarding compliance, including the management of an online repository for all WFG National Title policies, procedures and training materials.

 

Fenske has 30 years of experience in the title insurance industry. Prior to joining WFG National Title, she was Group Vice-President for one of the industry’s largest title underwriters, where she managed the owned operations in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Alaska and Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington.  She had also served as District Manager for the same underwriter.  In that role, she managed the owned operations and also the agency network in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho.  During Fenske’s 24 years with that company, she was involved in both the title and escrow side of the operation; assisted with underwriting and claims and took part in training associates and agents in her territories.

 

Fenske was also appointed by the Montana State Auditor to serve as the only title ambassador on the Montana Insurance Continuing Education Advisory Council for 12 years for the Montana Department of Insurance.  She also has served on the Legislative and Continuing Education Committees for the Montana Land Title Association.
